A Coastal Walk

PORTA DE MALLORCA – COSTA NORD – PORTA DE XARA
With departure from one of the city’s portals and arrival at the other, this excursion enables you to enjoy the district’s north coast, a low, rocky coastline with some beaches.
We recommend going by bike on this excursion and cycling along the very attractive north coast of Alcudia. We depart from the Porta de Mallorca and take Carrer de Sant Sebastia. At the end of that street, there is a path, the Cami del Corral d’en Bennassar.

This path passes through cultivated land and 700 metres ahead, near the path, there is an old water wheel used to draw water from the well to irrigate; nearby to the right there is the Cabita windmill. Just next to the windmill we must leave the path and head for the sea (300 metres). It is a very pleasant coastline where nature blends with buildings and with wooden moorings scattered all along that part of the shore. Continue along the coast road beside the sea for 1km (part of it have been asphalted and others not), arriving at Placa de Mestres d’Aixa, from where there is an extensive view of the coast up to Cap del Pinar. Continue along the street, Carrer de les Veles, and arrive at Barcares Harbourr, then follow the coast along Avinguasa del Camp de Mar, until you reaching Morer Vermell. Go across until you arrive at the sea again at Passeig de Tirant lo Blanc and this will lead you to Manresa (1,5 km). Cross Manresa in the direction of Mal Pas and 800 metres ahead we come to Sant Joan beach. Afterwards we pass Mal Pas, and return to Alcudia by the Cami de Mal Pas (2,5 km). It is possible to arrive at the Porta de Moll using the Carrer del Molinot.

Porta de Mallorca – North Coast – Porta Roja
A shorter version of the above excursion from Barcares harbour is to continue to Alcudia by the Cami del Barcares (1km) and arrive at placa de la Porta Roja where in olden times where there was the third city portal.
